Members of SPALP Table Tennis (Lycovrysi – Pefki Cultural Athletic Association) had a significant and unique experience, participating in an Erasmus+ program that took place from March 17 to 25 in Sweden, in collaboration with the historic team Helsingborg BTK Record.
The mission provided a great opportunity for the club to further broaden its horizons, engage with new practices in sports, and gain valuable experience at both coaching and organizational levels.
The program involved a job shadowing activity, with the primary goal of observing and understanding the operational model of a European sports club, as well as exchanging know-how, experiences, and best practices. A total of 11 individuals from the SPALP team participated in the mission.
The club’s coach, Giannadaki Loukia, played a special role, conducting the job shadowing by closely observing modern coaching methods, athlete development techniques, and the overall operational framework of the Swedish team’s competitive and training structure. Through this process, she gained valuable knowledge and insights, which can be effectively utilized in the club’s future course, contributing to the further development of SPALP’s coaching work.
The participation of 8 SPALP athletes, who joined the program as volunteers, was also of particular value. The athletes had the opportunity not only to observe the activities but also to actively and substantially participate in training sessions, experiencing firsthand the daily athletic environment of a historic foreign team.
This experience was not limited to the competitive aspect. The athletes came into contact with a different sports culture, learned new approaches to training, collaborated in a multicultural environment, and further strengthened values such as teamwork, adaptability, responsibility, and European consciousness.
